BIGSSS Computational Social Science Summer School on Migration
June 10-21, 2019
Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy)
The two-weeks summer school serves as a research incubator to linking social science research on migration with computational methods of data mining and analysis. The innovative concept bring together senior and junior scientists working intensively working together in one project. As an experts / project leader, you propose an own research project that uses computational social science methods within migration research. Within a team of five people (two experts / project leaders and 3 students), you will work through the entire research process and ideally publish your results in an edited volume or special issue of a peer-reviewed journal. As an expert / project leader you have approximately 50 percent of the time to freely structure and supervise your team. You will also give a lecture or a hands-on workshop for all participants.
Application deadline: November 30, 2018
For more information visit our call or directly apply here. Women are especially encouraged to apply.
The summer school receives generous funding from the Volkswagen Foundation as part of its program
International Research in Computational Social Sciences. It was preceded by a summer school on
conflicts in Bremen (Germany) in 2018 and will be followed by a summer school on social cohesion in
Groningen (Netherlands) in 2020.
